Cultivating Your Inner Peace

Cultivating Your Inner Peace

The happiness and inner peace is within our heart and soul. Since we are all seeking that happiness and inner peace, let’s practice some simple techniques to help us on this journey:

  • Finding your own space: Find a quiet and comfortable space at home that gives you some privacy. Lie down on a mat, listen to relaxing background music of your choice, burn some incense or diffuse your choice of essential oil. Start with deep breathing and exhale slowly, as breathe slowly, you are also slowing down your thoughts and brain waves.
  • Conscious Breathing: Once the breathing is on a smooth rhythm, start taking deep breaths and hold them until you slowly allow the air to pass through the tensed area within the body in a relaxing way. Do not force the breathing, then slowly release as you exhale. This will help identify the tense area and slowly release muscle tension.
  • Falling in love with your own heart: Take deep breaths, hold it and start connecting with your heart. Once you have located your heart on the left upper chest, then smile to your heart. Repeat this at least 10 times or more. The heart is a positive energy source for our body and mind, once your heart is open you are recharged with vitality.
  • Circulating your happiness: Taking a deep breath, hold it and visualise the air travelling from your nose up to the crown then going down along the spinal column, to the coccyx area and then flowing up to abdominal, chest and nose. For this practice, always begin with visualisation, and you shall connect to the source of energy at a later state. Repeat 10 times.

  • Getting to know your peace: Start with smiling down to your heart, then extend the smile and radiate happiness from your heart to all the cells in your body, from left -side to right-side and top to toes. In comparison, your body is similar to a company where all the cells are represented as a team member, each day you are taking your time to greet and meet all of them with a happy smile.

Full Moon Singing Bowl

The Full Moon Himalayan Singing Bowl

Image

The singing bowl was originated from pre-Buddhist Shamanic Bon Po culture in Himalayas, and it was often called “Tibetan” Singing Bowl, the bowls were made in various countries as Bhutan, Nepal, India and Tibet.

Traditionally, the bowls were made of seven sacred metals, corresponding to the seven planets of GOLD- Sun, Mercury- Mercury, Iron- Mars, Lead- Saturn, Silver- Moon, Copper- Venus and Tin- Jupiter. Indigenously was mentioned that, Iron was from meteorites found in the top of Himalayan Mountain, Metal was from the heaven. Unlike some of the Tibetan sound devices that were well documented, as part of Tibetan Buddhist Cannon, there was absolutely nothing written about the singing bowls even though they have been found in both monasteries and private homes.

The Tibetans were mentioned the bowls were simply bowls for food container, (traditionally, Tibetan pregnancy women would eat out of these bowls so they received a homeopathic dose of the metal elements to maintain their mineral intake). It was hard to believe that the handmade object that vibrating each substances and simultaneous the tones as its own consistent frequency and sustaining a range of vibrations were intended as a container for food.

On the deeper understanding in Tibetan culture, the Singing bowls were not just for a food container, the highest Lamas were using them as ritual offerings to their Gods and Deities, and some folks was said; the highest Lamas used these bowls for their rituals to travel another level of consciousness, but it was forbidden to talk about these bowls, even within the monasteries itself.

The sound or vibration of singing bowls was pure and universal, that allow the frequency of the sound vibrating the water in our body, it helps the body to relax and slow down the busy mind to clam down, allowing an inner peace. Singing bowls could be a good tool for meditation practice or induce the state of relaxation. Nowadays most of healers or spa industries had integrated the singing bowl to induce deeper state of relaxation prior performing their treatments, as the sound vibration will vibrate water in our body at the cellular level internally.

All the singing bowls are hand made on a Full Moon evening of each month by enhancing the subtle moon energy for subtle healing vibrations. Our Singing bowls are chosen carefully by sound testing to ensure the healing properties, either for simply meditation practice base on personal use and for healing purpose. We have selected carefully for the long lasting and powerful sound for your truly unique healing Masterpieces.

Sound Healing

“Sound that heals”

Sound Healing is an effective and proven modality that uses vibrational (frequency) of sound to help reduce stress, alter consciousness and create a deep sense of peace, well being.

In modern medicine, we are currently use sound frequencies for diagnosis as ultrasound to help detecting the abnormality. Sound as frequency or vibration that influences the water element throughout the body, thus mainly the circulatory system and generate a better vibration.

During our waking state, the normal frequency of our brain waves is that of Beta. Sound tools entrain the brain to move into the deeper Alpha and Theta brain wave frequencies. These are the frequencies that induce deep meditative and peaceful states, clarity of mind and intuition. Modern medicine can now measure and thus confirm the practice of sound as a means to promote healing. Thus, sound is a type of energy medicine that creates the silent space which people can heal from stress disorders, pain, depression, and emotional tension, creating a true body, mind, spirit connection so vital to natural healing. It is an integral part of healing the effects, after sessions clients experience improved memory, clarity, vitality and the ability to take action, including a deep sense of tranquility and promoting better quality of sleeping.

Vibration of today !

Will classical massage catching the physical tension in this modern day?

Buathon Thienarrom Ph.D

http://drbuathon.com/

From my working experience as holistic health practitioner, I have found nowadays people do have more and more physical tension, and it is not easily to releasing with the classical massage, especially the tension around neck and shoulder. And even you have tried to work at deeper level, the clients are response as pain and resistant to the massage, therapist is very exhausted as try to releasing the knots and tension. This is allowed the coming of the body –works that try to utilize the multi skills to guide the client into relaxation state thus allow the physical to relax, mental is letting go.

Where are the cause of the tension, in the past we were walking a lot, and traditional massage start from your feet, now the lifestyle has changed we are now thinking lots more with static posture, so the cause of the physical tension starting from not enough circulation and thought thus manifest into physical tension.

Once you visit the spa for a massage, you do feel relax during the massage and at later state the tension is back, some of you may feel relax as the body is heavy so you are ready to lying down as the toxin is start moving out from the body.

However, having massaged with the body-worker you may experience emotion release, clarity and lighter after the session. As I mentioned that now the cause of physical is now changing, as it is more on energy and mental level, so we are all need to be aware to how to address at the root of the problem.

And for the therapists are require to have more understanding the lifestyle of this modern days, and able to perform multi-skills to help your clients to overcome the tension with your Healing hand.

Becoming a healing Hand, the therapist is required more skills on breathing technique, energy work, relaxation and counseling technique to be able to manage the demand in near future.

Breathing your life

Breathing your life

It is thought by many cultures that the process of breathing is the essence of being. A rhythmic process of expansion and contraction, the breath is known as prana or a universal energy that can be used to find a balance between the body-mind, the conscoius-unconscoius. Unlike other bodily functions, the breath is easily used to communicate between these systems, which give us an excellent tool to help facilitate positive change.  We can consciously use breathing to influence the involuntary (sympathetic nervous system) that regulates blood pressure, heart rate, circulation, digestion and many other bodily functions. Pranayama is a yoga practice that literally means the control of life or energy. It uses breathing techniques to change subtle energies within the body for health and well being.

Our physiology change

During times of emotional stress our sympathetic nervous system is stimulated and effects a number of physical responses. Our heart rate rises, we perspire, our muscles tense and our breathing become rapid and shallow. If this process happens over a long period of time, the sympathetic nervous system becomes over stimulated leading to an imbalance that can effect our physical health resulting in inflammation, high blood pressure and muscle pain. Consciously slowing our heart rate, decreasing perspiration and relaxing muscles is more difficult than simply slowing and deepening breathing. The breath can be used to directly influence these stressful changes causing a direct stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system resulting in relaxation and a reversal of the changes seen with the stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system. We can see how our bodies know to do this naturally when we take a deep breath or sigh when a stress is relieved.

The breathing process

Breathing can be trained for both positive and negative influences on health. Chronic stress can lead to a restriction of the connective and muscular tissue in the chest resulting in a decrease range of motion of the chest wall. Due to rapid more shallow breathing, the chest does not expand as much as it would with slower deeper breaths and much of the air exchange occurs at the top of the lung tissue towards the head. This results in “chest” breathing. You can see if you are a chest breather by placing your right hand on your chest and your left hand on your abdomen. As you breathe, see which hand rises more. If your right hand rises more, you are a chest breather. If your left hand rises more, you are an abdomen breather.

Chest breathing is inefficient because the greatest amount of blood flow occurs in the lower lobes of the lungs, areas that have limited air expansion in chest breathers. Rapid, shallow, chest breathing results in less oxygen transfer to the blood and subsequent poor delivery of nutrients to the tissues. The good news is that similar to learning to play an instrument or riding a bike, you can train the body to improve its breathing technique. With regular practice you will breathe from the abdomen most of the time, even while asleep. Using and learning proper breathing techniques is one of the most beneficial things that can be done for both short and long term physical and emotional health.

Abdominal breathing

Abdominal breathing is also known as diaphragmatic breathing. The diaphragm is a large muscle located between the chest and the abdomen. When it contracts it is forced downward causing the abdomen to expand. This causes a negative pressure within the chest forcing air into the lungs. The negative pressure also pulls blood into the chest improving the venous return to the heart. This leads to improved stamina in both disease and athletic activity. Like blood, the flow of lymph, which is rich in immune cells, is also improved. By expanding the lung’s air pockets and improving the flow of blood and lymph, abdominal breathing also helps prevent infection of the lung and other tissues. But most of all it is an excellent tool to stimulate the relaxation response that results in less tension and an overall sense of well being. Breathing exercises such as this one should be done twice a day or whenever you find your mind dwelling on upsetting thoughts or when you are experiencing pain.

Place one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen. When you take a deep breath in, the hand on the abdomen should rise higher than the one on the chest. This insures that the diaphragm is pulling air into the bases of the lungs.

After exhaling through the mouth, take a slow deep breath in through your nose imagining that you are sucking in all the air in the room and hold it for a count of 7 (or as long as you are able, not exceeding 7)

Slowly exhale through your mouth for a count of 8. As all the air is released with relaxation, gently contract your abdominal muscles to completely evacuate the remaining air from the lungs. It is important to remember that we deepen respirations not by inhaling more air but through completely exhaling it.

Repeat the cycle four more times for a total of 5 deep breaths and try to breathe at a rate of one breath every 10 seconds (or 6 breaths per minute). At this rate our heart rate variability increases which has a positive effect on cardiac health.

Once you feel comfortable with the above technique, you may want to incorporate words that can enhance the exercise. Examples would be to say to yourself the word, relaxation (with inhalation) and stress or anger (with exhalation). The idea being to bring in the feeling/emotion you want with inhalation and release those you don’t want with exhalation.

In general, exhalation should be twice as long as inhalation. The use of the hands on the chest and abdomen are only needed to help you train your breathing. Once you feel comfortable with your ability to breathe into the abdomen, they are no longer needed.

Abdominal breathing is just one of many breathing exercises. But it is the most important one to learn before exploring other techniques. The more it is practiced, the more natural it will become improving the body’s internal rhythm.
